Choice picks from the Rhône, Loire, Burgundy, Languedoc & Alsace.
A characterful organic blend of Grenache Blanc, Vermentino and Roussanne from near Narbonne and a rare, old vine Chardonnay from the prime hillsides of northern Beaujolais are complemented by a quaffable, dry (Gamay) rosé produced from mid-way between the two in the Auvergne. Côtes de Vivarais is situated in the southern Ardèche on limestone soils and this Syrah - Grenache blend is a classic country red. The 'Nîmes' combines Syrah, Grenache, Carignan and Cinsault and represents a notch-up in terms of wine quality, partner with robust rustic dishes. Lastly, this is our last shipment of Marc Beyer's excellent 2015 Pinot Noir. A perfect Spring red that journalist Joanna Simon described as having "classic silky smoothness and sweet earthiness enhancing the alluring fruit" and that she suggests matching to bresaola, charcuterie, carpaccio, roast chicken, and vegetables that have natural sweetness. Enjoy it while it lasts. As ever, this 'Sommelier Service' mixed case (see here for regular wine deliveries) is also available as all red or all white & rosé. This mixed case contains two bottles each of:
