Menetou Salon: Domaine Jean Teiller Blanc 2018

The Teillers' Menetou Salon Blanc is a firm favourite chez Yapp.

The atypically ripe, juicy style of Loire Sauvignon Blanc is almost certainly influenced by the year that Patricia Teiller and husband Olivier Luneau (who now run the estate) spent winemaking in New Zealand.

Producer

Jean-Jacques Teiller

The Teiller family are amongst Yapp Brothers’ longest-serving suppliers and theirs is a typical small family business. Annual production of the white, from Sauvignon Blanc, is in the region of 50,000 bottles, half of which is sold direct from the cellar door. The family also produces fine Menetou Salon rosé and red wine from pure Pinot Noir. Jean-Jacques and his wife Monique are now ably assisted by their daughter and son-in-law Patricia and Olivier who met in Beaune where Patricia was studying oenology. Following a placement in New Zealand, the Teiller’s philosophy today is “Cautious modernization with the utmost respect for tradition.”

Bianca Ford reviews the white Menetou Salon from Domaine Jean Teiller - floral aromas, a silky palate and a bit of minerality. A classic Sauvignon Blanc to pair with seafood.
