Fonseca Late Bottled Vintage Port 2011

"Rather gorgeous, this fresh, tight and powerful Fonseca is perfectly focused, extracted and tightly-wound, finishing with intensity of flavor laced with some herbs and a hint of garrigue. Yet, everything is always in a very controlled fashion brilliantly supported by its structure. This is a beauty, another super 2011 LBV." 92/100, drink 2016-2027.

Tasting Notes
This Late Bottled Vintage ('LBV') Port is made from grapes grown on Fonseca's own vineyards and on other top properties in the Douro Superior. It is left to age in barrel for four to six years before bottling, compared to around 18 months for vintage. This 2011 is an unfiltered blend (which would benefit from decanting) that was bottled in 2016 and comes in at 108 g/l residual sugar.
