Domaine Saint Gayan Six Pack

“Top-class Gigondas domaine. Very long-lived wines, from the heart of the matter.”
John Livingstone-Learmonth,

Domaine Saint Gayan Six Pack Offer Case

Jean-Pierre Meffre's family has been making wine in the Vaucluse since the 17th century and their Gigondas - made from a traditional blend of 80% Grenache, 15% Syrah, 5% Mourvèdre that is vinified in cement vats – is the reference point for the appellation (which became a Cru in 1971). We are delighted to feature three great vintages of this wine in our mixed case, as well as reds from their Rasteau (elevated to Cru status in 2010) and Côtes-du-Rhône vines holdings. The white from the village of Sablet is a fleshy, aromatic blend of Viognier, Bourboulenc, Clairette, Grenache and Roussanne. According to Rhône wine guru, John-Livingstone-Learmonth, it is 'always good'.

N.B: the 'Origine' name was introduced to their principal Gigondas label from the 2010 vintage.

This six-bottle mixed case includes one bottle each of:

Côtes-du-Rhône 'Sablet' 2016

Côtes-du-Rhône 'Trescartes' 2016
Rasteau 2015
Gigondas 'Origine' 2015
"...the 2015 Gigondas Origine showcases cherries and red plums, medium to full body and supple tannins, picking up a dusting of cinnamon on the long finish. 89-91/100, drink 2017-2025."

Gigondas 2010
"Youthful purple. Heady, highly perfumed bouquet evokes black and blue fruits, Indian spices and lavender. Supple and juicy, with very good depth and energy to its blackberry and mulberry flavors. Given spine by tangy acidity but finishes smooth and seamless, with echoing floral and spice notes. 90-92/100."

Gigondas 2005
"Saint Gayan's 2005 Gigondas was impressive. A blend of 80% Grenache, 15% Syrah and 5% Mourvèdre that saw a traditional vinification (no destemming) and aging in foudre and demi-muids, it has a concentrated, full and layered feel to go with lots of cassis, blackberry, chocolate and crushed rock-like aromas and flavors. I love the fruit quality here, and this textured, balanced Gigondas can be enjoyed anytime over the coming 4-5 years. 91/100, drink 2015-2020."

Please note: The Gigondas 2005 and 2010 are only available in this offer case. Maximum one six-pack per customer, very limited availability.

This mixed case includes

1 x Côtes du Rhône Villages Sablet: Domaine Saint Gayan 2016£0.00

This superb white Côtes du Rhône Villages Sablet, called 'L'Oratory', is made from a blend of Viognier, Bourboulenc, Clairette, Roussanne and Grenache. It is fresh and dry, with ample apricot and peach flavours offset by mineral undertones.

1 x Côtes du Rhône: Domaine Saint Gayan 'Trescartes' 2016£0.00

Yapp is known as a Rhône specialist and this is our flagship Côtes du Rhône, so it ought to be very good ...and it is! Spice, jammy fruit and a rich silky finish. This Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault and Mourvèdre blend (called 'Trescartes') exemplifies all that is great about the increasingly-popular Southern Rhône reds.

1 x Rasteau: Domaine Saint Gayan 'Ilex' 2015£0.00

A strapping Rasteau wine with dark ruby colour, copious quantities of chocolate and black cherry flavours and warming tannins. This warming blend of Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre and Cinsault out-punches and out-points many a Châteauneuf' and is just the kind of wine to cosset one through a chilly winter.

1 x Gigondas: Domaine Saint Gayan 'Origine' 2015£0.00

This superb Gigondas from Domaine Saint Gayan is a reference point for the appellation, made from a traditional blend of 80% Grenache, 15% Syrah, 5% Mourvèdre that is vinified in cement vats prior to blending and bottling.
