Côtes du Luberon: La Canorgue Rosé 2018

Provence is renowned for it's rosé wines, and Château la Canorgue's is a superlative example. Made from Provençal staples Syrah, Grenache and Mourvedre, it is a wine light enough to be drunk alone, but would happily stand up to bouillabaisse or a Provençal goat's cheese.

Tasting Notes
The Côtes du Luberon rosé from Château la Canorgue has a delightful coral-pink colour, a delicate crushed raspberry bouquet and crisp, clean palate redolent of ripe redcurrants. NB: On 19 May 2018 a huge hail storm hit the region and significantly thinned the potential harvest for Canorgue rosé. Therefore, exceptionally in this vintage, some of the fruit for the rosé is sourced from neighboring organic domaines, hence they have dropped 'Château la' from the front label.

Château la Canorgue (Jean-Pierre & Nathalie Margan)

Jean-Pierre Margan and his wife Martine began producing wine at her parents’ ancestral estate, Château de la Canorgue, in the craggy Provençal hills around Bonnieux in 1978. Over the following 20 years, they painstakingly renovated the house and created an inspirational modern winery making red, white and rosé wines that have drawn international acclaim. They now farm 35 hectares organically and the wines are classified under the sizeable, and variable, Rhône satellite appellation of Côtes du Luberon. The Margans are widely recognized as being amongst the best of the appellation and one of Provence’s most pioneering estates. Jean-Pierre and Martine’s daughter, Nathalie, has now joined the family business who is an enthusiastic ambassador for the domaine.
