Corbières: Domaine Py 'Cuvée Mondière' Rouge 2017

Jean-Pierre Py's red Corbières wine 'Cuvée Mondière' hails from a blend of Syrah, Grenache and old-vine Carignan that are vinified separately in vat (75%) and barrel (25%) prior to fastidious blending. Already immensely approachable, it will readily support a year or more's bottle age. It is a chest-thumping crowd-pleaser, full of the blushful Hippocrene, that will go down a treat with a rib-eye steak or sausages and mash.

Tasting Notes
This red Corbières wine has a lovely bouquet of briary, hedgerow berries and a sleek, juicy palate with lots of ripe black fruit flavours over a background of supple tannins.

Domaine Py (Jean-Pierre Py)

Based in the viticultural heartland between Carcassonne and Narbonne in the commune of Douzens, Jean-Pierre Py is a forward-thinking wine maker who quit the local Cave Co-opérative in 2003 to pursue his dream and make his own wine.

In 2008 he put all his vine holdings under organic conversion and his entire output was certified as organic in 2011.
