Châteauneuf du Pape: Domaine du Père Caboche Blanc 2018
Rare white Châteauneuf-du-Pape represents less than 5% of the AOC production and this refreshingly oak-free example is one of the best around!
|Style||White Wine, Sec, Medium-bodied, Non Sparkling|
|Wine Region||Rhône, Châteauneuf du Pape|
|Grape Variety (Cépage)||Bourboulenc, Clairette, Grenache Blanc, Roussanne|
|Cellarage||This Châteauneuf du Pape Blanc arguably benefits from a year in bottle, and will happily absorb 3 years bottle age.|
|Vinification||The grapes are picked by hand at optimum ripeness and are immediately crushed prior fermentation at 16°C. Malolactic fermentation is blocked in order to preserve the fruit, aromas and acidity. Bottling takes place rapidly in order to preserve the wine's freshness.|
|Alcohol By Volume (%)||13.5|
Domaine Père Caboche (Jean-Pierre & Emilie Boisson)
Jean-Pierre Boisson, former long-serving mayor of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, runs Domaine Père Caboche with his children Emily & Nicolas. Members of the Boisson family have been both winemakers and blacksmiths for generations. The family nickname of Caboche derives from the old Provençal word for ‘horseshoe nails’ and their Vieilles Vignes cuvée is named after Elisabeth Chambellan, a local blacksmith’s daughter who married Jean-Louis Boisson in 1772.View more wines from this producer...
